BANKING ACCOUNTING MANAGER - Avp (m/f)
THE JOB :
The core responsibility of the role will be to manage the accounting function of the banking entity, including day to day and project activities. This includes accounting and reporting in accordance with both IFRS and US GAAP, responsibility for the month-end and year-end processes and liaising with auditors. The position also involves the full accounting function for certain smaller entities based in Luxembourg and management of five accounting employees.
The main responsibilities include:
- Ownership of all accounting activities relating to the Luxembourg Bank
- General-ledger accounting and related reconciliations in accordance with IFRS
- Corporate reporting and reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP
- Management of the Accounts Payable function
- Month-end and year-end close
- Full accounting function for certain smaller entities domiciled in Luxembourg
- Certain taxation responsibilities, including transfer pricing
- Maintenance of accounting infrastructure and reference data
- Management and career guidance of 5 Accounting staff
- Oversight of accounting functions that have been offshored to the Centre of Excellence
- Developing and maintaining internal controls and certain SOX responsibilities
- Compliance with local and corporate accounting policies
- Liaison with internal and external auditors and preparation for audits
- Liaison with regional accounting managers and the US corporate accounting department
- Management of accounting projects, processes and technology
THE CANDIDATE PROFILE :
- Qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent
- 7+ years of relevant work experience, preferably including a big 4 auditing firm
- Good knowledge of IFRS & US GAAP - Lux GAAP will be an advantage
- Good people management, presentation, communication and project management skills
- Very strong English (written and verbal). French will be an advantage
- Good PC application knowledge necessary; MS Office
- Knowledge of local regulatory environment is an advantage
- Knowledge of Accounting Systems (preferably SUN and Oracle)
- Ability to identify and address process gaps and implement improvements
- Experience in a multi-national and changing environment
- Must be proactive, have a positive attitude and be a good team player
- Must be prepared to roll up their sleeves and get involved in the detail
