Faculty Manager (m/f)

 

  • Permanent contract , full time 40h/week

Mission:

Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, the Faculty Manager provides effective and efficient professional management of the Faculty’s administrative functions and resources, including leading and directing faculty-wide administration, governance, finance and resources management, and planning functions. Working alongside the Vice-Deans and Department Heads, this role is a core member of the Faculty Executive team (Bureau).

 

Main responsibilities:

  • Supports and advises the Dean and the Faculty Executive team in the strategic and operational planning activities of the Faculty, and ensures coordination, implementation and monitoring of the objectives, strategies and plans, informed by accurate and reliable data and information.

  • Provides effective leadership to key administrative portfolio areas of the Faculty – financial management; human resource management; physical and technology resources management (including infrastructure); information and data management; marketing, communication and alumni relations; organization and oversight of administrative services – to facilitate delivery of the core activities of teaching, research and industry/society engagement.

  • Develops, manages and maintains an organizational framework (structure, processes and staff) and a culture of excellence that ensure the best support for the achievement of the Faculty’s strategic and operational goals through training of its academic, scientific, technical and administrative staff, development and continuous review and improvement of practices, processes and service provision.

  • Represents the Faculty within the University on management and administrative issues in relation to the University central/professional services, liaise with the other Faculties and Interdisciplinary Centres, and establish and maintain effective networks with functions responsible for student and staff services, human resources management, finance and information technology to ensure the best interests of the Faculty.

     

Profile:

  • A postgraduate qualification in a relevant area and extensive management and supervisory experience in a complex organisation, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and/or experience with the tertiary education sector or related environment.

  • A proven ability to contribute to strategic planning and a demonstrated capacity to conceive, develop, implement and evaluate management strategies and initiatives that deliver complex programs and services in a multicultural environment of major change.

  • A well-developed understanding of organisational dynamics and change management methodologies, particularly in the higher education or similar sector.

  • A strong understanding of leadership and communication dynamics reflected through the proven application of successful strategies to inspire staff to achieve faculty goals and to develop staff to their full potential.

     

    Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills with proven ability to adapt to new situations and develop creative solutions to strategic and operational issues in complex, multicultural, multi-stakeholder environments, including quality insurance development and implementation.

  • Excellent project management skills, and a proven record of successfully managing and completing all aspects of large, complex and organisational-wide projects including implementation and change management.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to negotiate, consult, influence and build consensus at a number of levels.

  • Fluency in English and in French or in German are mandatory;  Luxembourgish would be an advantage
